Assistant Director, Annual Giving Operations & Resources
Job Description Summary
The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Operations & Resources, provides essential support for the planning, execution, and tracking of integrated marketing and communications projects across Annual Giving. Reporting to the Director of Creative and Digital Strategy, this role helps manage project workflows, maintain creative briefs, and support the timely delivery of solicitation and stewardship materials. The Assistant Director assists with data collection and reporting to evaluate digital strategies, contributes new content to the SACAG Resource Hub, and conducts regular reviews to ensure its accuracy, usability, and relevance. They also develop toolkits and resources to build digital knowledge and support the Annual Giving community. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), this position plays a key role in helping teams leverage digital tools and resources to engage donors and achieve fundraising goals. Additional responsibilities may include supporting special projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Creative and Digital Strategy and the Associate Director of Digital Media & Creative Communications in coordinating and executing integrated marketing campaigns and projects across Annual Giving.
- Regularly collect, analyze, and synthesize data to inform strategy and share key performance insights with stakeholders in the Annual Giving (AAG) community.
- Build, maintain, and update data reports and summaries to monitor the effectiveness and impact of digital communications.
- Develop and refresh content for SACAG Resource Hub; perform regular reviews to ensure materials remain accurate, user-friendly, and relevant.
- Design toolkits and educational resources that strengthen digital fluency and operational knowledge across the Annual Giving (AAG) network.
- Manage creative briefs and track project progress to support timely, on-budget delivery of marketing and stewardship initiatives.
- Assist in the development of layout, design, and messaging for digital and print solicitation and stewardship communications.
- Collaborate with Annual Giving team members to explore and apply emerging technologies that enhance donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Work closely with colleagues across Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) to align efforts and drive shared success.
- Provide dependable support for special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 1-2 years' experience in a customer service-oriented environment involving the use of technology and experience in alumni relations or development desired.
- Strong graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
- Must have advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel, Word, and Teams. Knowledge of MS SharePoint and overall strong analytical skills is a plus.
- Proficient experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and knowledge of HTML is preferred. Basic knowledge of AMPscript is a plus.
- Knowledge of CMS platforms (Salesforce desired) is highly recommended.
- Experience with SMS texting platforms and social media management tools are a plus.
- Demonstrates a high level of comfort with technology usage and willingness to learn the functionality of new platforms.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with project management platform is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently, but also collaboratively, as part of a goal-oriented team.
- Knowledge of annual giving principles and techniques preferred particularly direct marketing with an understanding of multi-channel solicitation strategy.
- Adept at bringing new perspectives and innovative thinking to traditional fundraising operations, with an eye toward continuous improvement, modern donor engagement, and advancing digital fundraising strategies.
- This position works closely with internal partners across Penn DAR and student interns.
- Ability to travel, some evening/weekend work.
