Position Information:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Residential Education, the Assistant Director for Leadership and Curricular Engagement is responsible for the development, implementation, and assists with the assessment of the curricular approach in all residential facilities. The Assistant Director is responsible for the implementation and management of large-scale curricular strategies with an emphasis on initiatives that serves to enhance understanding and respect for the residential and Highlander community. This position serves as a resource for the residential students and campus partners and supervises the Residential Education Program Advisors (PAs) student staff team (approximately 19-28) as well as Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) senior student staff team (approximately 3). Additionally, this position serves as the Executive Advisor to the Housing student organizations including but not limited to Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary and Campus Apartment Resident Association.
The full salary range for the Assistant Director of Residential Education is $68,500 - $121,900 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $75,000.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
Requirements:
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
- Master's degree. Preferred
Experience Requirements
- 6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Special Conditions
- Travel Required
- Travel Outside of Normal Business Hours Required
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
- Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
- Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
- Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and assess data related to student success, development, and program effectiveness.
- Demonstrated understanding of student development theories and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers comprehensive student program(s) and/or administers comprehensive programs in the residence halls.
