Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western Carolina University is inviting applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics with the rank of Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin in August 2026. This is a nine-month position with the potential for summer teaching.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has 28 full-time faculty and supports undergraduate programs in mathematics, mathematics education, and computer science. The mathematics program has concentrations in actuarial science, applied mathematics, data science, mathematics education and traditional mathematics. The typical teaching load averages 9 course hours per semester. Class enrollments range from 35 in freshman level courses to the teens for upper-level courses. Students are actively engaged in undergraduate research, contests, and extracurricular activities. More information about the department is available at www.mathcs.wcu.edu.
