Position Summary:

Rogers State University is accepting applications for a full-time Instructor of Graphic Design.

Reports to: Department Head

FLSA: Exempt/Full-time

Hours: Faculty are required to hold eight (8) office hours per week

Required Degree

• Candidate should have an undergraduate academic background in the visual arts or related creative field;
• (MA) or Terminal degree (MFA) in Fine Arts (preferred), and at least 18 credit hours in the disciplines of Graphic Design, or a BA/BS degree in the visual/creative arts plus significant professional and creative experience in Graphic Design.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong proficiency within the disciplines of Graphic Design;
• Candidates should have experience teaching at the university level;
• Professional work experience in the design industry and/or strong exhibition record;
• Excellent communication skills.

Essential Duties

• The RSU Fine Arts program includes 100+ majors in four options: Studio Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia, and Photographic Arts;
• The successful candidate’s primary teaching focus will support the Graphic Design option. Experience with supplementary fine art media skills, such as photography, studio arts or multimedia are optional but desirable;
• Coordinate the Graphic Design program;
• Teach classes in traditional and mixed-delivery platforms in Graphic Design, and related areas that support the other degree options;
• Additional consideration will be afforded an applicant with expertise in animation, web design, mobile application development, motion graphics, and industry standard software expertise;
• Mentor (Advise) students;
• Involvement in Graphic Design course development and related program responsibilities;
• Locate and oversee graphic design internship opportunities for students;
• Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction;
• Attend departmental and University meetings;
• Prepare and submit necessary reports;
• Serve on various faculty committees;
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
