Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice
Job Summary
The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for six full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions in our new First Year Program, launching in fall 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to become a founding faculty member in a transformative initiative designed to redefine undergraduate education in engineering and computer science at UT Dallas. The new ECS First Year Program will enhance student success and identity development in the engineering and computer science professions by cultivating problem-solving through design, computational, and systems thinking with shared curricular and co-curricular experiences and strategic engagement with departmental specializations. The program will serve over 1,500 students across eight different degree programs through three ECS courses during the first two semesters.
We are seeking passionate educators with a focus on teaching foundational concepts in design and computing for all students. Appointed faculty members will work closely with and report to the Director of the First Year Program and in close coordination with their home academic department in ECS. Teaching responsibilities will focus on first year courses in the program with the opportunity to teach in the candidate's specialization area within the home department. Faculty members will typically teach 3-4 sections per semester and participate in coordinated curriculum development, assessment, and faculty learning communities within the First Year Program. Appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction or Practice (depending on experience), with opportunities for promotion in accordance with university policy.
The appointments commence for the fall 2026 semester.
