Assistant Professor of Marketing and International Business

Position Description

The Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington consistently ranks among the top business schools in the United States--for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Foster School serves a diverse, multicultural population of more than 2,500 students. With one-in-four UW freshman applicants requesting business majors, demand for Foster School business education is significant and growing.

The Department of Marketing and International Business, with its international reputation for its research productivity and teaching excellence, works together with other Foster School departments, UW schools and colleges, and community partners (e.g., Starbucks, Amazon, and Microsoft) to support top-ranked programs at the undergraduate, MBA, MSBA, Ph.D., and executive levels. As a business school, the Foster School is a global thought leader in numerous areas, and the University of Washington is among the world's best public universities.

The Department of Marketing and International Business invites applications for one full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2026. Assistant Professors have an annual service period of nine months. University of Washington faculty members engage in research, teaching, and service.

The successful candidates will perform research in behavioral marketing or consumer behavior. Teaching responsibilities will focus on marketing core courses in masters and undergraduate programs. This position will be expected to develop impactful scholarship, engage in effective teaching and mentorship, and support the department's commitment to all members of the community.

The base salary range for this position will be between $24,000 and $34,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance, summer research funding, endowments (tenured) and administrative supplements.

Qualifications

Candidates must have or be nearing completion of a PhD or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology, or other related fields such as Computer Science, Economics, Statistics. A qualified candidate may be considered for temporary appointment as an Acting Assistant Professor, pending PhD, with conversion to appointment Assistant Professor after degree conferral if the terminal degree has not been conferred by the position start date.
