Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Philosophy, beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate philosophy courses and contribute to interdisciplinary programs, including the Application of Artificial Intelligence minor. Candidates are also expected to maintain an active program of scholarship, participate in departmental and university service, and demonstrate a strong commitment to the missions and values of both the Department and the University.

Position Profile

Teaching faculty are represented by the Connecticut State University Association of University Professors (AAUP). The collective bargaining agreement defines the process for renewal, promotion, and tenure, while also delineating support for professional development.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Philosophy conferred by date of appointment (ABD candidates with completion by date of appointment will be considered)
  • Experience and Training (required): AOS in Latin American, Indigenous, Asian, Middle Eastern, or other related traditions; or Philosophy of AI; Experience teaching Latin American, Indigenous, Asian, Middle Eastern, or other related traditions at the undergraduate level; Experience teaching Philosophy of AI at the undergraduate level
  • Ideal Candidate: Preference will be given to applicants with: Evidence of effective teaching in undergraduate philosophy courses; Experience teaching courses in social and political philosophy; Ability to expand curricular offerings and contribute to pluralism in the department; Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary engagement; Peer-reviewed publications in philosophy or interdisciplinary journals; Demonstrated commitment to service at the departmental, university, or community levels.

Compensation and Employee Benefits

In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2024-2025.
