Location: Syracuse, NY

Pay Range: $63,690 - $70,000

Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor to support our APA-accredited doctoral program in School Psychology (https://artsandsciences.syracuse.edu/psychology/graduate-study-psychology/school-psychology-graduate-program-overview/). Academic year appointments are standard but opportunities for summer stipend for student supervision or related activities may be available depending on candidate interests and Department needs. The program is deeply committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all. Successful candidates will have a PhD or PsyD in School Psychology (preferred) or in another license-eligible field. Candidates must hold active licensure as a Psychologist in New York State or be license-eligible and able to obtain New York State licensure within 6-months of start date.

Candidates will teach up to six courses annually, which may include undergraduate courses in child or developmental psychology and graduate courses in areas such as applied behavior analysis, consultation, and related practica. As part of their course load, candidates will supervise clinical training for doctoral students completing a year-long practicum experience in a university training clinic or externally. Candidates will have the opportunity to maintain a caseload to preserve and enhance clinical skills, provide hands-on training and demonstrations for graduate students, and support clinic operations and revenue. Additional opportunities to collaborate with the Director of the Psychological Service Center (PSC) on new rotations or services aligned with the candidate's background and interest are also available. Candidates will be expected to participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.

The Psychology Department houses the largest undergraduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences, with over 1,000 majors. We also train over 60 graduate students across our four doctoral programs: APA-accredited programs in Clinical and School Psychology and programs in Social and Cognitive psychology. Clinical training is supported by our new psychological services center, and our purpose-built labs, designed in collaboration with architects for each program. Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in School Psychology preferred but a PhD in other relevant fields will be considered.
  • Active licensure as a Psychologist in New York State or able to obtain New York State licensure within 6-months of start date.
