Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Associate Director of Residence Life works closely with the Director of Residence Life, and provides organization, management, and supervision of departmental staff, programmatic initiatives, operational initiatives and programs, and management systems and functions. The Associate Director's work will reflect institutional, division and departmental goals and strategic objectives.
The Associate Director provides leadership, support and direction in the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of staff members. The Associate Director contributes to departmental activities related to marketing, recruitment, assessment and enrollment management. The Associate Director also serves as a conduct Hearing Officer and serves as an Administrator on Call.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts regular inspections of residence halls and reports on condition and care of facilities; damages; staff bulletin boards; and, policy and code compliance.
- Supports RA, ARA and SDA training programs and RA Staff Development training sessions.
- Conducts weekly supervisory meetings with assigned members of the residence hall professional staff.
- Coordinates departmental programming efforts utilizing the established departmental programming model.
- Coordinates assessment initiatives as assigned.
- Serves as a Community Standards Hearing Officer and supports Student Conduct administration as assigned.
- Serves as Administrator on Call as needed.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in higher education administration, college student personnel or related field required. Minimum of three (3) years full-time professional residence life work experience in a college or university setting. Direct experience supervising professional or graduate residence hall staff. Previous residence hall live-in experience. Student conduct experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories. Crisis management skills. Excellent conflict resolution and management skills. Proficiency with StarRez.
