CASI Postdoctoral Climate Fellow

The Center for the Advanced Study of India (CASI) and the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship for the 2025-2026 academic year. The position focuses on environment-society relations, cities and urbanization, and climate change, with openness to disciplines like anthropology, architecture, geography, and planning. Candidates with multimedia production or critical cartography skills, and those addressing inequities such as caste, indigeneity, gender, and sexuality, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have received their Ph.D. or equivalent by June 30, 2025, with the degree awarded in 2022 or later. The appointment is from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, and may be renewable for one year based on performance and funding. Fellows will pursue their research, teach one course per year, collaborate on projects like Stories of Climate Action, and reside near the University of Pennsylvania. Compensation includes a $66,300 stipend, a $3,500 research fund, and health insurance.

CASI, founded in 1992 within the School of Arts & Sciences, promotes interdisciplinary research on South Asian studies and values diversity.
