The Opportunity
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Western Sydney University Student Union, you will provide strategic leadership that empowers students, strengthens organisational capability, and advances WSUSU’s mission to support a vibrant, inclusive student community. Working in partnership with the WSUSU Board, you will guide the organisation through ongoing growth, innovation, and sector change, ensuring that student voice sits at the centre of all programs and decisions.
You will lead high‑quality governance, financial sustainability, and organisational performance by overseeing reporting, compliance, risk management, and strategic planning. A key part of your role will be building a positive culture grounded in WSUSU’s values, enabling staff, volunteers, and student leaders to deliver outstanding services, advocacy, and engagement opportunities for the diverse student community.
In this position, you will represent WSUSU as a trusted leader across the University, government, community partners, and the broader public. You will cultivate strong relationships and champion the Union’s role as an independent, student‑centred organisation that evolves in response to student needs, emerging opportunities, and sector trends.
What Success Looks Like:
- Deliver strong governance outcomes through timely, high‑quality advice and reporting to the WSUSU Board and subcommittees.
- Ensure long‑term financial sustainability by overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and strategic financial planning.
- Lead a positive organisational culture that supports staff capability, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen student engagement, partnerships, and WSUSU’s reputation across the University and wider community.

About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as business, law, social sciences or equivalent, with a Bachelor degree or higher.
- Demonstrated senior‑level leadership experience within a complex, values‑driven organisation.
- Proven capability in governance, financial management, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning.
- Strong ability to lead and develop diverse teams, fostering an inclusive and student‑focused culture.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills with experience partnering across boards, students, and external bodies.
