Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Clinical Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Elementary & Early Childhood Education with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in mathematics content (rational numbers, whole number and operations, proportional reasoning, data, statistics, probability, geometry and measurement) and pedagogy (K-2 and 3-5).
- Supervise teacher candidates during their Yearlong Clinical Experience.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local school partners in support of our teacher candidates.
- Collaborate with colleagues in service to the department, College and University on committees and program work.
- Collect and score required key assessment data for accreditation purposes.
- Attend required department and program meetings.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- An earned terminal/doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in mathematics education or Curriculum and Instruction, or other related field with a focus on mathematics education and at least 18 graduate credits in mathematics is required by the start date.
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood, elementary, or middle grades setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- K-5 teaching experience
- Teaching or supervision experience in the state of Georgia
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in higher education
- Experience supervising at the undergraduate or graduate level in higher education
- Experience teaching online, hybrid and face-to-face
- Experience as a teacher mentor or coach
- Experience designing and/or facilitating professional development
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with local school partners in support of teacher candidates, particularly within a professional development school model
