Communications & Events Coordinator
Advance Clinical and Translational Research (Advance RI-CTR) was established in 2016 through receipt of an IDeA-CTR Award from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences. Advance RI-CTR is a statewide hub supporting clinical and translational researchers in Rhode Island by providing funding, services, and professional development opportunities. We strive to fuel discoveries that improve the overall health in the state.
The Communications & Events Coordinator (CEC) will be responsible for three main support functions: 1.) Administrative activities including meeting scheduling and calendar managements; 2.) Supporting the communications function of Advance RI-CTR; 3.) Providing in-person and virtual event coordination and support for the Advance RI-CTR Service and Awards Cores.
The CEC will assist with internal and external messages and communications to promote educational and program offerings with the goal of expanding the program's visibility and uptake. The CEC will assist in supporting Core educational and professional development events from initiation to completion, including but not limited to seminar series, trainings, symposia, etc. This will include, among other duties, securing venue spaces and webinar links, maintaining event registrations, confirming catering and AV support, promoting the events to the Advance RI-CTR and wider community, and being the point of contact for and staffing events both in-person and virtual. The CEC will work closely with the Project Managers of the Advance RI-CTR's Administrative Core for tracking, evaluation, and reporting, and to ensure Core educational initiatives are successful and Advance RI-CTR community needs are met.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 7/31/2026.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Required: Associate's Degree with 2-3 years' events and/or communications experience (preferably in an academic environment) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Experience in administrative/research field within a university environment highly desirable.
- Experience with planning, coordinating, and managing events (preferably in an academic environment).
- Experience organizing and monitoring multiple projects simultaneously.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite.
- Social media experience, specifically X and LinkedIn.
- Experience with digital mass mailing application is highly desirable.
