Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include knowledge of and experience with: Industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign. Typography principles, including font pairing, kerning, and leading. Familiarity of UGA Branding - using the guidance of UGA Branding and the UGA Visual Style Guide when creating promotional assets.

Position Summary: This Marketing & Design Specialist will work with UGA’s Georgia Network for Electric Mobility (GNEM) creating, sharing, and promoting the research and technology work being conducted and developed. This staff position will: Design logos, style guides, and other visual elements that align with our brand identity to promote the developments in research and technology happening in GNEM. Create promotional materials for outreach, including banners, posters, brochures and flyers for displaying at regional and national events. Develop online marketing using social media channels, including creating lab spotlights that highlight research and technology that is being developed in the lab, and outreach events for promoting GNEM. Participate in outreach events to promote and capture content material for GNEM. Record, edit and promote visually appealing videos that promote activities and research. Develop a series of educational videos that will be used to showcase manufacturing, technology families, and explain the processes being used and researched. Assist GNEM Faculty and students with graphics for research publications and grant proposals.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Understand fundamental design principles including layout, composition, and visual hierarchy. Communicate design ideas effectively with faculty, staff, students and collaborators. Familiarity with social media outlets, online platforms, and digital marketing. Familiar/experienced with a camera, phone, or other recording device to capture photos and video for promotional materials. Identify and solve design problems creatively. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and online platforms for designing digital assets. Work simultaneously on multiple projects, each with a different deadline.

Physical Demands: Sitting or standing at a computer or other media device to design and create promotional materials and graphics for publications. Use of a camera, phone, or other recording device for taking photos and video. Driving to perform job-related tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities: Management of Social Media platforms for GNEM, including creating & posting content, monitoring sites to ensure appropriate engagement, and using various outlets to help market events and other outreach needs. (Percentage of time: 25) Attend outreach and educational events to capture video and photo content and network with stakeholders. (Percentage of time: 20) Design and create marketing and promotional materials for UGA’s GNEM. (Percentage of time: 20) Create videos to be shared on a YouTube channel for both educational and marketing purposes. Videos can be linked or uploaded directly to other social media and websites for education and outreach. (Percentage of time: 15) Assist faculty and graduate students with creation of figures and graphs for research publications and grant proposals. (Percentage of time: 15) Other duties as assigned which would contribute to the success of sharing and promoting the work being done at GNEM. (Percentage of time: 5)
