Digital Content Specialist
Job Summary
The Digital Content Specialist provides daily support to develop and maintain online content for Georgia College & State University's website. The goal of this position is to support the University Communications team to improve the overall user experience online, prioritize ADA (accessibility) guidelines and collaborate with departments across campus to manage the content on their pages.
This position is also responsible for adhering to the university's style guide in managing content on the university's news site, marketing pages, outdoor digital screen and virtual tour solutions.
Responsibilities
Website Management - 65
- Collaborates with division leadership, as well as stakeholders across campus, to place content in strategic locations on the public website, as well as troubleshoot issues internally
- Assist other web editors across campus by serving as a digital communications expert for the university's various digital and online mediums
- Provide support for the university's websites by assisting content managers and developing assets as needed
- Provide technical support for web-based content management systems, campus-wide signage, communication platforms, e-newsletters, and online-based campus tours
- Provide crisis management support for online and digitally connected applications
- Monitor trends in internet technology and higher education and suggest projects/improvements to enhance the overall user experience, optimize navigation and fine tune online content strategies
Content Production - 30
- Works with colleagues within and outside of the University Communications team to deploy content on digital platforms
- Manages multiple campus-wide digital content systems
- Evaluate and manage various digital communications projects
- Assists Brand Strategy and Multimedia teams in producing content for various platforms as needed

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in marketing, communications, management, graphic design, or computer science or a combination of equivalent education/experience
Other Required Qualifications
Familiarity with content management systems.
Required Experience
- 1-3 years experience in website management/graphic design
- A working knowledge of web content management and production
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
- Experience in graphic design and digital media
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous higher education experience preferred.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Knowledge of CSS/HTML

- Knowledge of university branding, style guides, and editorial standards
SKILLS
- Skill in deploying content across multiple digital platforms (websites, news sites, signage, virtual tours)
- Technical troubleshooting skills for web-based content and communication systems
- Project management skills, including the ability to evaluate, prioritize, and manage digital projects
- Ability to create and edit digital assets, including text, images, and multimedia elements
