THE OPPORTUNITY:

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work to be performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required of an incumbent.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Cultural Affairs, the Coordinator provides advanced professional and administrative support to the Office of Cultural Affairs and its personnel. The Coordinator supports the Director in exploring, planning, and executing cultural exhibitions and programs at the College. The incumbent also operates independently in prioritizing their workload in determining how best to accomplish work objectives, proactively identifies, follows through, and resolves various needs of the Office, and participates in special projects as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the implementation of special projects related to the arts and culture at Hudson County Community College as prioritized by the Offices of Cultural Affairs, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Assists with all aspects of gallery management for multiple exhibition spaces on campus and off-site programming, assists in planning and overseeing cultural events, and design and organize marketing materials for collegewide DEI thematic months and cultural calendars following the Colleges marketing policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and independently composes correspondence, often of a diversified, complex, technical, or confidential nature. Organizes and prepares complex documents and presentations requiring the integration of multiple office technology and software applications.
  • Serves as liaison for the Offices of Cultural Affairs and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with community members and other external stakeholders planning to hold programs at the college.
  • Leverages contemporary graphic design and other equipment and software on a regular basis, including Outlook, Excel, ADOBE Photoshop, and Vector Graphics to develop complex documents, tables, macros, charts, custom manuscripts, formulas, etc.
  • Provides supervision to work study and student workers or may serve as a group leader to provide guidance, direction, and training regarding work activities within assigned areas.
  • Collects data from multiple sources both within and outside of the College, performs a variety of calculations, and conducts an analysis of all data for review by the Director.
  • Projects a positive self-image of professionalism, appearance, confidentiality, courtesy, conduct, honesty, fairness, and personal integrity at all times.
  • Assists with the organization and implementation of programs including contractual agreements, space and technology arrangements, and vendor payment.
  • Designs, organizes, and creates community education materials, including brochures, programs, calendars, and flyers.
  • Participates in college-wide and community-based meetings and planning activities while representing and advocating for the Offices of Cultural Affairs and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Collaborates with the College communication and website teams in the development and publication of all external communications for Cultural Affairs and DEI.
  • Executes other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Arts or related degree (such as art, history, or museum-related management).
  • At least three years of experience in designing and producing exhibitions and art-related programming.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Appropriate technology skills.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the role of community education programming in the arts as it relates to the mission of a comprehensive, urban community college.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A computer arts degree with expertise in ADOBE Suite and Vector Graphics.
  • Work experience in a community college.
  • Familiarity with the local community and arts organizations.
  • Formal work experience in cultural affairs programming.

Pay: $48,335.80 - $62,836.54 per year
