Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Faculty and Student Affairs (CFSA) in the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Business (LASB). Reporting to the Associate Dean of Faculty and Student Affairs (ADFSA) for LASB, the CFSA assists with the design and implementation of LASB's faculty and student development programming centered on leading research and best practices pertaining to the retention and success for LASB's part-time and full-time faculty and students.

Primary Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate for the CFSA position will bring a sense of collegiality, ambition, experience, and knowledge to faculty and student development for full-time and part-time faculty and students. The successful candidate will assist in the support of faculty and student development and success. The incumbent will coordinate efforts to strengthen support and mentoring mechanisms for faculty and students with an aim to promote faculty and student development and growth.
Faculty Affairs
- Coordinate the ADFSA's plan for faculty development and growth with attention to the differing needs of part-time and full-time faculty.
- Assist with regularly scheduled orientations, professional development opportunities, class observations, meetings, and events for full-time and part-time faculty.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for LASB faculty who coordinate multi-section courses or course sequences often taught by part-time instructors.
- Assist with faculty affairs in LASB including data collection, event programming, and metrics driven initiatives. Event programming includes occasional evenings and weekends.
Student Affairs
- In consultation with the ADFSA, create, implement, and assess a dynamic and intentional student development plan with attention to students from various backgrounds who study a range of academic disciplines in LASB's six departments.
- In collaboration with the ADFSA, create, implement, and assess programming and processes for alumni engagement.
- On behalf of the ADFSA and LASB, serve as the point of contact for Nevada State's LASB student-facing co-curricular and student life programs and as the point of contact for external constituents. Student-facing co-curricular events include occasional evenings and weekends.
- Coordinate data collection and metrics-driven outreach efforts to increase LASB enrollment, retention, and graduation rates.
Related Responsibilities
- Research best practices and emerging trends in higher education related to student affairs, faculty affairs, and alumni engagement.
- Assist with implementation of the LASB strategic plan.
- Serve on committees as appointed or elected member.
- Manage LASB social media platforms.
- Other duties at the LASB and university levels as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or a field within the LASB departments and disciplines.
- Two (2) years of part-time or full-time teaching experience and collaboration with other faculty in creating instructional materials and in evaluating instruction in higher education or closely related field.
- Familiarity with faculty and/or student development programming in higher education.
- Experience collaborating with students, faculty, and staff representing varied backgrounds.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple competing tasks in a proactive and professional manner.
- Ability to initiate problem solving and outlining creative solutions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to foster productive working relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, and senior leaders throughout the university community.
- Excellent communication, writing, and research skills.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree in Education or a field within the LASB departments and disciplines.
- Ability to quickly build partnerships and networks work across departmental faculty.
- Experience coordinating programming for part-time and/or full-time faculty.
- Experience coordinating activities for students from varied backgrounds.
- Experience working with first-time full-time college students from varied backgrounds.
- Knowledge of evidence-based pedagogical strategies in multiple teaching/classroom modalities.
- Work within grant funded education programs.
- Event planning experience.
- Proven skills in conflict resolution.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SnapChat, and willingness to learn emerging platforms.
Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary for this position is $61,553. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
