Data Collections Database Assistant
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.
The Museum is seeking a part-time Data Collections Database Assistant, who will complete basic data entry and data clean-up in the Invertebrate Paleontology collections database, EMu. The collections include fossil marine invertebrates, such as trilobites, corals, echinoderms, bryozoans and molluscs.
The Museum is seeking applicants with the ability to work independently and who approach work processes with meticulousness, thoroughness and attention to detail.
Job duties include:
- Complete accurate data entry in the EMu collections management system.
- Organize and compile collection information.
- Verify accuracy and sort information prior to making database updates.
- Review data for deficiencies or errors.
The expected salary for the Data Collections Database Assistant is $20.60/hour. This position is overtime-eligible.
Required Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
- College-level coursework in geology, biology, paleontology or another related field.
- Interest in management of natural history collections.
- Ability to learn new systems.
- Meticulous, thorough and detailed approach to work processes.
- Ability to work independently.
