The Mary H. Weiser Food Allergy Center is seeking a highly skilled Technical Data Manager for an exciting and cutting-edge large birth cohort study at the University of Michigan. Join our dynamic and interdisciplinary team of experts in Allergy, Immunology, Epidemiology, and Genetics as we investigate the pathogenesis of food allergy and other allergic conditions. In addition to biological samples, this study collects longitudinal survey data from participants, which is stored in REDCap.
We are looking for a candidate who can lead our data management autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your expertise and contribute to groundbreaking research. The position is flexible in who we are looking for: we are willing to consider both full-time and part-time applicants. We are focused on finding someone who will fit well with our team and be a good communicator and eager worker.
This will be an in-person position with the potential to earn a 1-2 day work-from-home contract after meeting performance metrics assessed bi-annually.
Spearhead the maintenance of study databases, skillfully integrating data from diverse sources to ensure comprehensive and accurate records.
Design and implement automated workflows for data cleaning and data completion adherence with the coordination team.
Develop automated pipelines for data cleaning, pre-processing using a programming language such as R or Python.
Conduct regular data QA/QC: audit checks, discrepancy resolution and version control following HIPAA guidelines.
Prepare data in curated datasets at quarterly intervals for analysis by physician residents, fellows, students, and PIs. Prepare interim progress reports for grant applications and publications.
Create and maintain documentation: data management plans, SOPs, codebooks, CRF design, variable harmonization rules.
Support research coordinators and lab staff in their interactions with REDCap.
Take charge of data access and maintain the REDCap databases.
Manage the uploading of electronic medical record data into REDCap databases.
Utilize advanced data visualization techniques to generate compelling visual representations, reports, and manuscripts that effectively communicate study findings.
Senior level: Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of experience in independent data management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Intermediate level: Bachelor's degree with 4 or more years of experience in independent data management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Understanding of data privacy regulations
Proficiency in any: Python or R coding languages
Proven experience in data visualization and data cleaning.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in clinical research, including IRB protocols and guidelines.
Excellent communication skills
Takes direction eagerly
Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, developmental science, informatics, informational science, computer science, or related field.
Experience working with longitudinal birth cohort or epidemiologic datasets.
Experience in neuroimaging, genetic data, or multi-modal clinical data integration.
Familiarity with data sharing standards and/or national cohort repositories.
Experience with data dashboarding and visualization tools (R, Python, REDCap).
Track record of contributing to peer reviewed publications or grant proposals.
