Dental Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
The Dental Assistant provides exemplary patient care and assists dentists during examination and treatment of patients. This position also prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials, provides imaging services, and utilizes four-handed dentistry. This position involves periodontal charting and instructs patients in oral hygiene and have a firm grasp of dental procedures. The Dental Assistant will professionally communicate with the Dental Assistant team, faculty, and residents, while providing exemplary patient care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes special solutions and sterilization bags; disposes of biohazard accordingly and maintains infection control
- Prepares operatories and instrument trays for procedures for multiple disciplines
- Reviews schedule for each discipline to properly prepare for the day; minimal periodontal charting
- Cleans, oils, and sterilizes equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent communications skills
- Team player and ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
- Ability to operate dental equipment
- Ability to provide imaging services
- Ability to maintain infection control and sterilization of dental equipment
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA policy
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Six months of experience or training as a dental assistant
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
