The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy invites applications and nominations for the position of Head, Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy (PSOP). UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy consistently ranks in the top ten in NIH funding among pharmacy schools and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the #15 pharmacy school in the nation.
The Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy is among the top of its kind in the country, with expertise in health outcomes research, pharmacoepidemiology, social sciences, and related disciplines, and in the study of pharmacy-related healthcare issues. The faculty in PSOP have strong research programs and work collaboratively with experts in the other departments, colleges/schools at UIC, UI Health, other academic institutions in Chicago, pharmaceutical companies, health provider organizations, and government agencies, among others.
The department is committed to training the next generation of pharmacists and health services researchers. PSOP houses the PhD in Pharmacy program, a highly competitive, STEM-designated graduate program that attracts students from all over the world. PSOP also oversees an online MS in Comparative Effectiveness Research, a Pharmacoepidemiology Certificate, and the faculty direct numerous Health Outcomes Research Fellowships in conjunction with the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research (CPR).
The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in areas that advance the department’s mission with a track record of promoting collaborative and multidisciplinary research, innovations in teaching/education, and visibility in national organizations. They will join the College leadership team to support the mission and values and contribute to the strategic plan. They will lead the department, and support the faculty, staff, and students, to ensure continued growth and success at a leading urban research university. The Department Head will have significant latitude to define strategic priorities, grow research capacity, and strengthen national visibility in health services research, real-world evidence, implementation science, and policy translation.
Applicants must possess a PharmD, PhD, or equivalent degree(s), and be eligible for appointment at the rank of tenured Professor according to UIC norms. The budgeted salary range for this position is $217,500 - $307,500 annually. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
