About the opportunity
The Director will lead the NCCC in developing and implementing strategies that position it as a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence for cultural competence. This includes driving research and education initiatives, fostering multidisciplinary partnerships, and promoting community engagement. The role will champion efforts to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation and outcomes in higher education, while advancing culturally competent practices across the Australian higher education sector. By embracing cultural and linguistic diversity, the Director will ensure the NCCC contributes to a more cohesive, inclusive, and globally connected society.
About you (skills, capabilities and experience)
You will be an outstanding leader with the ability to articulate a clear, compelling vision aligned with the University's values and organisational goals. Your experience includes developing and implementing research and education strategies, managing budgets, and providing sound financial and resource management advice. You will also bring a high level of academic and professional standing, with extensive research leadership experience, and a proven ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. A deep understanding of, and engagement with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and/or culturally and linguistically diverse communities is essential, along with the capability to build strategic partnerships that advance cultural competence across higher education and the broader community.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- lead the NCCC's research and education strategy and ensure operational and financial grounding
- build strategic partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders
- champion cultural competence initiatives and foster an inclusive, high performing culture
- enhance the centre's national and international profile through outreach and collaboration
- oversee programs, budgets, and resources to align with university priorities.
Term and remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a continuing position on a full-time basis and will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
