Director of Continuous Improvement, Staff Development and Engagement (CISDE)
Position Summary/Description
The Director of Continuous Improvement, Staff Development and Engagement (CISDE) leads this department within the Finance and Operations Service Center of Excellence (SCE). This includes leading the Division of Finance and Operation's business process improvement, training, professional development and engagement functions. As the lead for business process improvement efforts, address evolving enterprise systems and technology, burdensome procedures and processes and the need to operate with innovation, agility and efficiency. Responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects across the organization's customer base, while managing the change processes associated with these projects. Additionally, the position provides strategic guidance to the Learning and Development team that fosters excellence in employee performance and enables ongoing, dynamic career development through continual, ever-expanding learning opportunities and workforce development.
Additionally, this department provides campus-wide financial systems training for staff who utilize the financial module of the Connect Carolina system (PeopleSoft), purchasing cards, travel and expense cards, Concur, the time information management (TIM) system and customer billing management. CISDE also provides University employees who hold a Certified Public Accountant license the ability to earn continuing professional education credits through courses offered throughout the year. The department also coordinates leadership training, professional development and compliance and safety training for all SCE customers.
Education and Experience
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and training software.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and process mapping software (e.g., Visio, Minitab).
- Lean Six Sigma green belt or higher certification.
- PROSCI or other change management certification.
- Adult learning theory and application.
- Project management skills, including proficiency in project management software.
- Design thinking methodology and implementation.
Essential Skills
A bachelor's degree in business administration, education, organizational development, or a related field with prior experience in a position of comparable scope and complexity may be considered.
A minimum of 3 years of management-level experience in a related field with a demonstrated background in facilitation, business process reengineering and training. The successful candidate will be technologically savvy, innovative, customer focused, and a collaborative leader.
Demonstrated experience in successful business process reengineering, planning, analysis; management skills that balance strategic, industry, business, and people factors; experience leading knowledgeable subject matter experts, and developing staff; leading project management and change management functions; exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; coalition building, facilitation and collaboration skills.
Strong knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles. Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs. Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead change management initiatives.
