Key Responsibilities: The Director of Counseling Services provides vision, strategy and leadership in support of a vibrant and engaged residential college community. The Director provides supervision and guidance to a staff of counselors committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and timely professional care to Juniata students with sensitivity and compassion. Services are delivered in person and remotely by a team of talented and diverse full-time and part-time clinicians.
The Director is an innovative and change-oriented leader, excited to explore and promote emerging opportunities to deliver high quality clinical experiences and pro-social engagement that supports holistic wellbeing. The Director is responsible for contributing to the development of: collaborations, outreach and programming that fosters community, belonging and growth mindset; a rich and vibrant campus environment; practices and programming that contribute to the ongoing transition of students through and beyond the first year as they develop, explore and grow their skills, knowledge and capacities in pursuit of the attributes of a Juniata graduate.
The Director directly supervises a team of clinical professionals ensuring effective, ethical, and equitable treatment of students needing services and support on campus and administers institutional and grant budgets that exceed $250K annually. Individually and with colleagues, the Director is empowered to design, promote, implement and assess programs in the unit and seamlessly across the division of student life. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee staff, operations and services of the Glaeser Counseling Center. Recruit, train, supervise, support and evaluate a diverse team of practitioners and counselors who provide care and services. Provide clinical supervision to all clinical staff including case consultation and review of treatment planning.
- Recruit, host and supervise on-site graduate clinical interns as they seek experience to meet program requirements and attain counseling-related certification and credentialing; oversee their documentation, diagnosis, treatment plan development, and discharge planning.
- Lead the development and revision of policies and procedures in adherence to federal, state, and professional associations (APA, ACHA, AUCCCD, etc.) guidelines and standards.
- Oversee the coordination, consultation, and guidance for crisis/liaison services, including intervention and postvention services for emergencies and highly acute situations.
- Oversee Juniata’s electronic record system including maintaining the accurate collection of records and statistics to provide information for decision-making and feedback to staff and college partners and quality assurance of documentation. Implement new technologies to improve and expand service delivery and evaluation.
- Support grant-related commitments that expand access to and provide support for resources and services that promote mental health and wellbeing.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, culturally competent services to students. Ensure staff implement services from a multi-cultural perspective that embraces the individuality of each student.
- Facilitate collaboration between the counseling services and other departments across campus to strengthen the development and delivery of mental health services and prevention initiatives.
- Oversee the development and implementation of training initiatives to strengthen mental health awareness, increase visibility and accessibility of services, and promote help-seeking among campus community.
- Provide direct clinical service including individual and group counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, and consultation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a vision for the holistic student experience that reflects the mission, strategic plan and values of the College.
- Foster practices of belonging and inclusion with a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and the valuing of marginalized people. Support development of self-efficacy, identity and character through individual, policy and institutional influence. Promote community unity and personal well-being.

Position Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in clinical/counseling psychology or related field with active license in state of Pennsylvania as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
· Successful completion of background checks.
· At least 5-7 years of counseling experience.
· A record of increasingly progressive leadership experience reflected by advancement through the career path.
· Comfortability and/or experiences counseling college age clients; or familiarity with student development theory, cultural identity development theory, and trajectories of growth and development that apply to traditional college age student populations;
· Evidence of successful collaboration and cooperation with diverse individuals and groups including administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
· Prior experience with, and a commitment to, the residential liberal arts experience.
· A collaborative, inclusive and transparent management style.
· Presence, charisma, and ability to articulate a vision for mental wellbeing and the critical role of counseling services in the collegiate environment to a variety of institutional stakeholders that inspires confidence, investment and partnership.
· Evidence of ability to develop and manages all aspects of departmental communication with students, parents, faculty, staff, business partners and other externals; Preference for backgrounds experiences that include creating, editing, and sequencing publications; completing required reports and documentation of compliance; authoring policies, letters, emails, web pages and presentations.
· Experience with Titanium (for clinical records management) or an equivalent system
Supervision Required/Given:
Reports directly to the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students. Receives general direction and guidance while working with independent discretion. Operates within established regulations and procedures of Juniata Counseling Services. Direct supervision of full-time and part-time clinicians, practitioners and/or other personnel.

This 12-month position includes:
· Annualized salary ranging from $65-80K determined based on individual congruence with desired characteristics and qualifications, with exceptionally or highly qualified candidates positioned higher in the salary band. For candidates interested in the possibility of a 10.5 month, 11 month, or 11.5 month appointment, salary may be adjusted proportionally.
