"Head Assistant Coach - Men's Wrestling"

Position Purpose

As the Head Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach, your role is crucial in supporting the head coach in managing and developing the men's wrestling program. Emphasis on recruiting, enrolling, educating, retaining and graduating highly qualified student-athletes. This person will help lead the Men's Program and assist the Wrestling Director to create a positive, winning culture and exceptional student-athlete experience; and ensures that the New England College Wrestling program is administered with full commitment to compliance regarding all team, institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Essential Duties Summary

• Coaching: Assist in planning and executing practices, developing training programs, and providing technical instruction to the wrestlers.
• Recruitment: Collaborate with Wrestling staff to identify and recruit wrestlers who perform well athletically, and academically. Coordinate with coaching staff to have student athletes visit campus and reach out to students on a regular basis to build relationships with parents, coaches, and student athletes.
• Student-Athlete Development: Focus on the individual development, and team development of wrestlers. Assist in coaching student athletes to improve technique, strength, and conditioning. Assist in the monitoring of the academic progress of student-athletes and promote academic preparedness for student athletes.
• Compliance: Uphold all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations related to recruiting eligibility, and competitions. Ensure that the program operates within the guidelines of the governing bodies.
• Team Management: Assist Head Coach with the team management tasks.
• Work with Head Coach to develop and foster a positive team culture and environment that emphasizes academics and athletics excellence.
• Coordinates and manages multiple social media platforms to promote the team.
• Effectively supports team and departmental discipline procedures.
• Assist in the coordination of team community service projects

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong recruiting skills at the college level
• Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage a competitive college program.
• CPR/AED certifications required within one month of appointment
• Flexible hours. Travel Required. Valid Driver's License and background check
• Bachelor's degree is required

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of three years of demonstrated recruiting and coaching experience and success at the college level.
• 2-4 years of college-level playing experience
• A Master's degree is preferred.
