Home Equity Underwriter
HOME EQUITY UNDERWRITER, Federal Credit Union (MITFCU), is responsible for evaluating and underwriting home equity loan and line of credit applications in accordance with credit union policies, investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal risk standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant credit decisions while delivering a positive member experience. REQUIRED: A minimum of three years of experience in residential loan processing, including document validation, income calculation, and loan file preparation for underwriting. PREFERRED: A minimum of three years of experience as a home equity or mortgage underwriter in a credit union, bank, or mortgage lender; NMLS licensing and compliance with SAFE Act requirements; bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field or equivalent work experience; solid knowledge of consumer lending compliance (TILA/RESPA, ECOA, HMDA); Familiarity with lien position, property valuation, and real estate title documentation; and proficiency in interpreting income (W-2, self-employed, rental), assets, and credit documentation.
