Summary of Position
Red Rocks Community College seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time HVAC Instructor to join the Construction Technology Department. This position is ideal for professionals with industry experience who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students in both shop and classroom environments. Reporting to the Skilled Trades Department Chair, the instructor will deliver high-quality instruction that supports diverse learning styles and meets the needs of a community college student population. Instructional responsibilities include preparing and delivering engaging course content across face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, assessing student progress, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with college policies. Classes may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekends.
Payment is based on the credit hour/contact hour and class ratio as assigned to you by the department chair. RRCC starts $1,620.04 - $1,782.04/credit hour. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.
The successful candidate will bring current industry knowledge, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment. In addition to teaching, the instructor will participate in departmental activities and maintain regular communication with students and staff. This position may require occasional travel, participation in off-campus events, and a flexible schedule of up to 28 hours per week, depending on college needs and budget. Candidates must be willing to designate Colorado as their primary workplace, including for online instruction.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work from campus (primarily at our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).
- Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to teach students online and face-to-face.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
Required Qualifications
- An associate degree in a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Qualifies for, post-secondary CTE credential including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licenses and Certifications: Journeyman.
- Three (3) years of experience working in electrical controls.
- Bilingual English to Spanish.
- Knowledge of and experience in the following areas: Skilled in troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing process controls, and low voltage equipment. Read P&ID and electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Maintain trade/industry relationships.
- One semester full-time (or equivalent part-time) teaching experience.
- Ability to interpret and teach the current National HVAC, Plumbing or electrical building codes.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The pay for this position is $1,620.04 - $1,782.04/credit hour. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need, commensurate with education and experience.
