Instructional Specialist, Physics (Temporary)
The Department of Physics in the University of Arizona's College of Science invites applications for the temporary position of Instructional Specialist. This position supports instructional staff with the running of our introductory laboratory courses, and facilitates learning through instructional design, curriculum implementation, technology application, and teaching and learning assessment. The Instructional Specialist also creates materials and programs to support and evaluate academic and program objectives, course design and delivery.
Final FTE is dependent on student enrollment and department instructional needs. Your final FTE may make you eligible for benefits if you work a 0.50 FTE or greater for 90 days or longer. We will notify employees should they gain benefits eligibility status.
This position is for the Fall 2025 semester. The individual hired for this position may be granted the opportunity to support future semesters.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Under minimal supervision, assist students with experiment setup, equipment troubleshooting and data taking in introductory physics labs.
- Grade and proctor exams and laboratory activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of undergraduate physics curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physics.
- Experience in instructional support (e.g., preceptoring, grading, tutoring, etc.)
