Primary Purpose of the Position: This position serves as an Information Security Operations Analyst in the Office of Information Technology, assisting in developing, monitoring and enforcing practices to ensure that university data and systems are secure from unauthorized access and the inappropriate alteration of information resources. The employee leads efforts, plans, monitors, implements, and reports on security measures to protect systems, networks, and enterprise information, expected to stay up-to-date on cyber intelligence, monitors emerging products, hacker technologies, or best practices that will improve security for the organization, minimize breaches, and enhancing industry and statewide security compliance regulations This individual will utilize network security; threat and vulnerability management, centralized log management, and specialized skills to monitor, detect and investigate security events with a focus on the secure university environment and other research-focused environments, as applicable. The individual works regularly with internal and external users to remediate events deemed to be vulnerabilities or incidents. Serve as a contact for security incidents, monitoring incident queues, and addressing requests appropriately through ticket escalation and resolution. This individual is expected to possess professional, operational, and interpersonal skills to function effectively in collaboration with internal and external customers with a focus on researchers. The candidate should possess skills that include networking, security technologies experience, understanding of security compliance requirements and best practices, written and oral communications and must be detail-oriented and customer-focused. This position will take a leadership role in performing documentation, change management procedures, inventory, and system logging of test and production systems as well as participate in project management evolutions regarding information security processes, standards implementations, security access monitoring, scanning and enforcement, remote access monitoring, audit preparation, risk assessment and management activites, and information security policy analysis and compliance reporting. This position will provide second level customer service to internal and external technical and functional user personnel and groups, to ensure that the centralized and specialized systems are operating and communicating correctly.
Preferred Years Experience,Skills, Training , Education: Certifications related to the duties and responsibilities specified, including but not limited to Security+, CNA, CCNA, CISA, CISSP, MCSE, SSCP, and SANS GIAC preferred but not required.
