Laboratory Services Technician
The Laboratory Services Technician will help coordinate the support and maintenance activities in the School of Kinesiology's 25 research centers and instructional laboratories. These responsibilities include developing and monitoring par levels of supplies, ensuring equipment is safe for use and functioning and collaborating with other SoK staff and faculty to ensure the smooth operation of research and instructional spaces. You will also oversee the scheduling, use and training for specific pieces of shared equipment and shared spaces. Other tasks include tracking shared equipment, arranging for repairs, cleaning and maintaining equipment. You will report to the Assistant Director, Research and Instructional Lab Operations.
This position is onsite at our Ann Arbor Campus, however there will be potential for a hybrid schedule after passing the probationary period, with a remote option up to 1 day/week.

- Assist with tracking service contracts and manage service calls and vendor maintenance
- Assist with the replacement and updating software of lab equipment
- Maintain working knowledge and ability to train others on relevant shared equipment (eg DEXA scanner, 3D printer, metabolic carts, etc)
- Support shared equipment and research facilities such as autoclaves, cold rooms, shielded rooms, parking spaces and rooms with dedicated equipment
- Maintain software on computers in three data suites
- Manage computers associated with shared equipment and work with user groups to update specific softwares
- Manage Dropbox with research and instructional software materials
- Assemble new equipment and work with faculty and vendors to arrange in-person or remote training
- Ensure proper procedures are in place for shared lab spaces and equipment use
- Provide orientation tours of lab spaces and resources and assist lab personnel with basic lab safety and equipment use
- Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1+ years of experience in a similar role or within a research or academic laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Experience managing IT systems, software, and connectivity for lab equipment
- Proven success with contributing to a positive workplace culture, and ability to consistently demonstrate our school's Core Values
