Lecturer of Ecology & Evolution
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Ecology & Evolution in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology with a start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on active and inquiry-based learning.
- The primary teaching responsibility will be Principles of Biology II lecture (BIOL1108) and the accompanying lab (BIOL1108L), which emphasize evolution, ecology, organismal biology, data literacy, figure literacy, and the process of science.
- Principles of Biology II is a coordinated course. A successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve the undergraduate experience in the course and advance students' ability to succeed in the course and the biology program.
- The responsibilities of this position may include coordination of Principles of Biology II (laboratory or lecture in online or face-to-face modalities).
- Other teaching responsibilities may include other undergraduate biology and College of Science and Mathematics courses based on the needs of the department.
- Summer teaching is optional and based on the needs of the department.
- This is a teaching-focused position with no research expectations or line of support for research.
- Professional service to the university, department, and/or discipline.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Biology, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire. OR a minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required at the time of hire. AND teaching experience in Biology or a related discipline (graduate teaching assistantships and secondary education teaching experience qualify).
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success using evidence-based teaching practices at the university level.
- A record of teaching organismal, ecology, and/or evolutionary biology courses.
- A record of engagement in activities that foster student success.
- Experience with developing and teaching online or hybrid courses that incorporate best practices in instructional design and student engagement, beyond short-term or emergency measures.
- Experience coordinating multi-section courses.
- Experience collaborating on instructional decisions.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
