Department Information

Within this setting, the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies houses an undergraduate major in Public Policy and the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. The department also offers three online undergraduate minors in public administration, public policy, and nonprofit management. Being fully committed to the advancement of public service education, the department continues to expand its curricular offerings through high-quality, student-centered undergraduate and graduate programs. Department faculty maintain a robust research agenda and/or engage in impactful service within the University (including a strong commitment to student mentoring), the profession, and the community.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies Chair, the Lecturer of Public Administration position requires undergraduate teaching and providing service to the Department, College, and University, as well as engaging in student success initiatives and professional development. The position is an academic (10 month) non-tenure track appointment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Public Administration by August 1, 2026.
  • Qualifications to teach undergraduate courses in Public Management, Public Policy, and/or Nonprofit Management.
  • Strong commitment to student success initiatives.
  • Evidence of, or potential, for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
  • Technology literacy and a commitment to integrate technology into teaching.
  • Commitment to active participation in departmental service, curriculum development, and program initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Public Administration.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience with evidence of effective and student-centered instructional practices.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of academic courses in both online and traditional modalities.

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
