Lecturer
The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in Business Communication beginning August 2026. The position will start at the rank of Lecturer, with opportunities for promotion to Senior Lecturer and later Teaching Professor after demonstrated success.
The primary focus of this role is teaching undergraduates Business Communication, a course that emphasizes excellence in written communication through the 4 Cs-clarity, concision, coherence, and correctness-applied to real-world business genres such as emails. Students also develop oral presentation skills, practicing design, organization, delivery, and audience engagement. The course also incorporates cross-cultural and virtual teamwork through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects, connecting Baylor students with international peers to produce professional communication deliverables. Additional emphases include ethical and professional communication with diverse audiences, strategic use of digital tools, and metacognitive reflection to help students assess and refine their communication practices.
The standard teaching load is four courses per semester. The department provides strong instructional and research support through generous funding for both academic and professional conferences. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualifications: Doctorate (PhD or ABD) in rhetoric and composition, English, technical communication, communication studies, or a related discipline, or master's degree in one of these fields with substantial, relevant industry experience required. Evidence of teaching excellence preferred. Professional experience in business communication or related fields is highly valued. Commitment to Baylor's mission as a Christian university required.
