About the Role
The Manager, Academic Quality and Risk provides operational leadership to ensure that quality systems and processes support high-quality student outcomes and maintain compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021. Reporting to the Associate Director, Academic Quality, this role leads the implementation and oversight of academic quality assurance and risk frameworks in alignment with national regulatory requirements and institutional policy.
The position is responsible for implementing a systematic, risk-based quality assurance framework that enables the University to identify, monitor, and mitigate academic risk. This includes developing, maintaining, and reporting on the University’s Academic Risk Profile. The Manager works closely with school leadership to drive continuous improvement at both unit and course levels, ensure the integrity and quality of partner-delivered programs, and analyse academic performance data to inform evidence-based decision-making.
This role is central to the effective operation of Swinburne’s higher education quality assurance framework. Working collaboratively across the University, the Manager oversees a comprehensive suite of quality review and assurance activities to maintain academic standards, meet regulatory expectations, and support continuous enhancement of student learning outcomes and the overall student experience.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Proven success in a similar role, including the ability to coordinate a range of activities and provide authoritative advice about, and interpretation of, policy and procedure, preferably in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated ability to interpret the Threshold Standards and TEQSA’s risk-based regulatory approach to drive continuous improvement to quality assurance processes and associated artefacts
- Ability to analyse complex data and convert to evidence-based narrative and recommendations for governance and management reporting
- Well-developed understanding of academic risk, risk controls and treatment, and the ability to develop registers in a collaborative, evidence-based way

Qualifications
Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
