The Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement (SIEE) leads the University’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community and strengthening partnerships that drive positive social change. The Division plays a central role in advancing equity outcomes and delivering on key staff and student equity KPIs aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.

The Manager, Diversity and Inclusion will collaborate closely with faculties and central portfolios to design, pilot, implement, monitor and evaluate university-wide equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. This includes leading training programs, contributing to strategy development, and driving measurable outcomes that enhance inclusive culture, improve representation and support the achievement of University and Council KPIs.

The role reports to the Director, Diversity & Inclusion within the Division of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement and leads a small team of two to three direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Engage with the relevant stakeholders to develop, implement, and monitor a program of diversity and inclusion initiatives that align with the University’s strategic goals and embed new relevant work streams in partnership with existing EDI committees, Faculties and Divisions.
  • Apply subject matter expertise and knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion as well as data to drive innovative and evidence-based approaches to the practical application and development of EDI programs, training and support measures.
  • Manage project documentation timelines, data collection, overall project guidance, effective utilisation of resources, and oversight and reporting for relevant work streams of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure the implementation and governance of relevant D&I strategies and action plans (e.g. DIAP, Athena Swan and others).

About You:

  • Postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive work experience in managing concurrent complex projects, preferably in equity, diversity, inclusion along with relevant workplace accreditation frameworks.
  • Strong subject matter expertise in diversity and inclusion in a workplace context, with a higher education context highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to influence and maintain positive and lasting relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing regulatory and internal reporting to meet desired outcomes according to strict deadlines whilst handling competing demands.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and productively both as part of a team and independently, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated excellent planning, analytical, and conceptual skills including the ability to synthesize complex issues and deliver robust outcomes.
  • Proven track record in program management and demonstrated ability to facilitate the implementation of initiatives and programs across diverse stakeholders that align with strategic goals.
  • Proven management experience at a senior level: together with flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity.
