Required: Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education or a closely related field of study.
Experience: The ideal candidate is collaborative and has a strong interest in developing active partnerships with local and regional schools. Experience in leading innovative educator preparation programs and/or models (e.g., teacher residency). Strong record of success in an academic appointment. Successful scholar with peer review publications in relevant professional journals, success in the area of grantsmanship, and/or development and publication of curricular materials that are demonstrably impactful in the field.
Primary Responsibilities: Summary: The College of Education is seeking a seasoned academic with College-level leadership and/or administrative experience to advance our footprint and impact in the area of educator preparation. The successful candidate will have experience in innovative educator preparation programming models, partnership cultivation and relationship management, and knowledge of compliance-related requirements connected to educator preparation (specifically as outlined in various elements of the Texas Administrative Code). The successful candidate should be an established academic who will qualify for appointment in a discipline area relevant to programming in a College of Education. This individual will also serve as the academic Chair of Education in the College of Education and as a member of the College Leadership Team. In-load teaching duties will be assigned. Scope: College of Education Faculty and Administration Duties: Essential: In collaboration with the Dean, the Chair will support diagnostic efforts to identify and pursue opportunities to enhance programming and services provided through the College of Education to strengthen responsiveness and relevance in service to our community. Partnership building, sustainability, and responsiveness will be included in but not exclusive to strategic college priorities. The successful candidate will also facilitate review of existing programmatic features and develop recommendations around possible innovations in programming that may be appropriate to helping advance the program portfolio for the College of Education. One example of a program that may be of interest is related to teacher residency. As Chair, the successful candidate will also serve as a College administrator and as part of the leadership team and will have other leadership and evaluation duties as assigned. Supervision: Received: Reports to the Dean of the College of Education. Appointment begins as early Fall 2025.

Working Conditions: Usual: Eight-hour workday, forty hours per week, with some early or late hours depending on workload; and attendance at various university, community, and school activities.
