Open Rank Tenured/Tenure-track Position in Decision Analytics for Complex Systems
The NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for an open rank position to start on September 1, 2026.
We are seeking candidates in all areas of decision analytics in economics, finance, management, and urban systems. Areas of specific interest include, but are not limited to, modeling high dimensional interacting systems in dynamic random environments, optimization, game theory and reinforcement learning, statistical methods, network science and data science. The position is part of a new school-wide initiative in systems engineering and complex decision-making.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in applied mathematics or a closely related field and have a demonstrated interest to work at the intersection of financial engineering and one of the following three application areas: technology management, urban science, and urban engineering. Applicants are expected to show strong potential for excellence in both research and teaching. Candidates are expected to contribute to teaching at the graduate level, as part of the new cross-departmental MS program in Decision Analytics.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9-month) range for this position is $115,000 - $175,000 for the Assistant Professor rank, $140,000 - $210,000 for the Associate Professor rank and $155,000 - $255,000 for the Professor rank...
