Position Highlights
Parking and Transportation Services is looking for a Parking Attendant to join their team. The position is responsible for supporting the successful execution of University special events by preparing event fields and surrounding areas. Key responsibilities include setting up and breaking down event equipment, placing signage and barricades, and maintaining an accurate inventory of all event-related materials. The role also provides on-site assistance during events by communicating clear information to attendees and facilitating safe, efficient parking operations. This position plays a vital part in ensuring that University events run smoothly, safely, and in alignment with institutional standards for service and presentation.

Duties & Responsibilities
Event Setup, Operations, and Site Support:
- Prepare event locations by completing all assigned equipment setups and breakdowns, ensuring signage, decals, and placement are accurate.
- Set up assigned intersections, parking lots, or garages at the beginning of each shift or as instructed by the supervisor.
- Control and monitor the use of parking lots, street parking, and garage parking within the assigned area.
- Assist with opening mall gates and other access points as required.
- Provide information and facilitate parking during University Special Event activities.
Equipment, Facilities, and Inventory Management:
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning, including golf carts and event support tools.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage rooms; conduct regular inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Build, repair, and maintain PVC barricades and related event infrastructure.
Administrative Support and Team Coordination:
- Assist in training, guiding, and supporting student employees.
- Maintain and update special event work orders to ensure accurate tracking and completion.
- Document parking utilization and event-related activities specific to the assigned area of responsibility.
- Submit accurate monthly inventory and equipment reports to the manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of general parking practices and procedures including event layouts, parking lot design, and designated entry/exit routes.
- Skill in following written and oral instructions.
- Skill in courteous communication with the public. with customer service practices when assisting the public and basic understanding of conflict resolution techniques.
- Basic computer knowledge to include Microsoft Suite, email and Internet browser searches.
- Basic knowledge and experience with power tools including chop saw and drill.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools including ratchet, screwdriver, and grommet press.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Perform equipment handling duties requiring bending, lifting, and carrying items up to 60 lbs (e.g., cones, barriers, signage).

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Must have a valid AZ Driver's License and ability to drive according to our University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months parking lot operations or related experience.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in events such as concerts, sporting events, graduation, parking attendant or other large gatherings.
