Position Summary:

The Case Manager will work with both the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and Academic Care Team (ACT) to coordinate campus support systems and resources for students involved in behavioral intervention and academic care processes. This position will assist with overall case management by following up on referrals, coordinating interventions, and tracking students’ progress. In particular, the Case Manager is responsible for outreach to students and reporters primarily with cases requiring (1) basic needs/housing assistance and (2) attendance alerts. This position works closely with the Division of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs and community support systems in coordinating a response that balances the needs of individual students with the safety and welfare of the Fort Lewis College Community. The Case Manager reports to the Student Well-being Case Manager and is part of the Office of Student Well-being.

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supports a caseload of students who benefit from a systems approach to student success, wellness, and retention; includes support around academic, financial, and personal matters with a focus on cases around basic needs and managing attendance alerts
  • Provide outreach to referrals, coordinate and delegate interventions, assist in care plan development, and ensure that team recommendations for referrals are carried out
  • Work closely with campus and community resources on the coordination and enhancement of referrals and services
  • Document casework for students of concern and ensure information sharing procedures comply with FERPA and College policy
  • Identify and stay up to date with the network of on and off campus services to assist students in obtaining available benefits and social and community service
  • Provide timely communication with the BIT/ACT members and other college administrators regarding students of concern
  • Assist Student Well-being Case Manager with support and consultation to the faculty and staff involved when students of concern are referred.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508 and produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in social work, sociology, psychology or other relevant field, or a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Understanding of the application of FERPA, medical privacy guidelines, and other applicable laws and policies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent listening, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in detailed record keeping and maintaining documents.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a college/university setting.
  • Minimum 1 year experience providing case management support.
  • Knowledge of crisis management skills and demonstrated ability in applying to highly sensitive and emotional conversations.
  • Knowledge and utilization of the Maxient database system or other electronic case management platforms.
  • Ability to take initiative and balance multiple priorities.
  • Experience and ability working with marginalized and vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to professionally interact with and respond to staff, faculty, students, parents, community partners, and administration.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using Microsoft Office 365.

Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:

Reports to Student Well-being Case Manager.

Travel:

Some local travel expected for meetings with community partners.

FLSA Status/ Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/ and Salary Range:

  • Non-exempt
  • $27/hour
  • Part-time, hourly
  • November 2025-May 2026
