Part Time Faculty Interest Pool - Medical Laboratory Technology
Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in the Medical Laboratory Technology Department at the Cascade Campus. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.
This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
PLEASE NOTE - a copy of your ASCP certification (or proof of certification) and an unofficial transcript will be required as part of the application process. Please upload both documents in the attachments section of your application.
For MTL 113, 114, 115 and all 200-level MLT courses (except 271, 272, 273 and 274):
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or applicable area of study
- MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Three (3) years of recent experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing
OR
- Master's degree in a science-related field or applicable area of study
- MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Two (2) years of recent experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree
For MLT 105:
- Associate's degree in a science-related field of study
- PbT (ASCP) certification or MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Three (3) years of recent experience either working in phlebotomy or teaching phlebotomy
For MTL 100, 110, 271, 272, 273 and 274:
- Associate's degree in a medical laboratory technology or related field
- MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Three (3) years of recent experience working in a clinical laboratory setting OR three (3) years of teaching experience in a clinical laboratory science or a related field
OR
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or applicable area of study
- MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Two (2) years of recent experience working in a clinical laboratory setting OR 2 years of teaching experience in clinical laboratory science or a related field
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree

Note Regarding Academic Credentials
- Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
- Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. These positions are included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Faculty Federation Employees.

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC
Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.
Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
