Job Description:

The Part-time IT Support Technician will provide front-line technology support to the Bellarmine community beyond our traditional office hours.

  • Provide first-level technical support to faculty, staff, and students via walk-in, phone, and electronic requests during assigned shifts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common computer and technology issues, escalating more complex problems to full-time staff or appropriate OIT teams
  • Follow established procedures and document all work accurately within the University's ticketing system
  • Assist with basic hardware and software support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripheral equipment
  • Support Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and University-supported applications
  • Maintain accurate records related to incidents, requests, and inventory as assigned
  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and strong customer service skills during all user interactions
  • Assist with documenting commonly occurring issues and standard fixes
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the OIT organization to ensure timely issue resolution
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support Technology Support Center operations

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person, over the telephone, and via email
  • Ability to quickly learn new applications, systems, and support procedures
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, printers, and peripheral equipment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and/or Apple operating systems
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365
  • Ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours while following established procedures
  • Reliable availability for scheduled shifts, including evenings and Saturdays

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior IT or related technology support experience
  • Experience working in Higher Education

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer
  • Ability to perform physical activities including lifting equipment (up to approximately 50 lbs.), bending, standing, and walking as needed
  • Ability to work on-site during assigned shifts
