CQUniversity’s People and Culture Directorate delivers quality human resources services that support staff across payroll, recruitment, employee relations and workforce development. The Directorate plays an important role in ensuring compliance with employment legislation and enterprise agreements, maintaining accurate payroll operations, and supporting a positive employee experience across the University.
As Payroll Team Leader, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Team, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all University staff. You will mentor and support team members, provide expert advice on complex payroll matters, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and University policies.
Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will contribute to process improvements, system efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives that support effective payroll operations and service delivery.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused professional with demonstrated payroll experience, strong leadership capability and a commitment to customer service excellence. Experience with systems such as aPay (Ascender) or SAP Success Factors will be highly regarded.

Position Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading operational teams and mentoring staff to achieve high performance.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and enterprise agreements.
- Proven ability to manage complex payroll processes and deliver accurate, timely and compliant outcomes.
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in payroll systems such as aPay/Ascender or SAP Success Factors, along with MS Office applications.
