PhD on Physical Layer Security for Laser Satellite Communications
Job Summary: This position involves research on physical layer security schemes for free space optical (FSO) channels in laser satellite communications. The project aims to enhance security for high-bandwidth communications, including quantum key distribution over satellite networks, to enable longer-distance secure communications.
Responsibilities: As a PhD candidate, you will perform FSO channel modelling, conduct secrecy/capacity analysis, perform comparative analysis of various methods, and devise novel physical layer security schemes to improve security, enable higher secure key rates, and support longer-distance communications. This is part of the EU research project LaiQa, collaborating with prestigious institutes across Europe.
Qualifications and Requirements: A Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field with excellent grades. Good understanding of physical-layer communications, information theory, and optical wireless channel models. Strong critical thinking skills, ability to innovate and develop novel concepts, professional cooperation with students, researchers, and partners, and proficiency in written and verbal English with strong communication skills.
