Piano Technician
Reporting to the Dean of Fine and Performing Arts, this position is responsible for maintaining, improving and prolonging the useful life and performance of all keyboard instruments. Will consider full time or part time interest. Illinois Wesleyan is uniquely designated as an “All Steinway School”. Responsibilities:
- Tune and maintain all concert venue pianos; collaborate with faculty, visiting artists, and students to determine and satisfy needs
- Tune, repair and maintain all classroom pianos and faculty studio pianos in the School of Music
- Tune, repair and maintain all practice room grand pianos and upright pianos in the College of Fine Arts
- Rebuild piano mechanisms as needed; order correct replacement parts, properly fitting and align, rebush keys, touch and tone; regulate all keyboard instruments, including historic instruments
- Determine the instruments that require massive rebuilding and coordinate that accordingly, within budget constraints; rotate pianos as needed to more critical areas to prolong and extend useful life
Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Registered Piano Technician and Steinway Factory Training required
- Five years related experience
