Job Summary
The Jackson lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology invites applications from postdoctoral scientists to support NIH and DOD-Funded research activities. Our laboratory is located in center city Philadelphia in the New College Building. Our research program is focused on neuron-glial interactions, with an emphasis on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms by which astrocytes regulate neurovascular coupling, local metabolism and synaptic development, and brain cancer metastasis. We use a combination of molecular genetics, electrophysiology, and imaging-based (live-cell and in vivo) approaches. Candidates with previous experience in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply. The idea candidate will have outstanding communication and organization skills and thrive in a diverse environment.
Essential Functions
- Design, execution, and analysis of in vivo and ex vivo experiments in rodent models
- Prepare scientific reports and drafts manuscripts (papers/grants)
- Training/supervision of junior trainees
- Techniques development
- Support general laboratory operations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Neuroscience, cell/molecular biology, or Pharmacology
- Self-learner and motivated. Strong quantitative abilities.
- Experience working with rodent models. Experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Experience with live-cell or in vivo microscopy.
- The optimal candidate will have a background in neuroscience or cell biology, as well as a solid understanding of genetic, cell biological, biochemical, and/or molecular biology techniques. In addition, the candidate should be self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
