Job Description

Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral position with the possibility of a one-year extension with the Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. The position involves research in modeling and simulation of within-host virus dynamics, theoretical immunology and multiscale immune-epidemiological models of infectious diseases and teaching two classes per year. The individual will also be responsible for writing documents, including grant reports and publications.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Mathematics or a related field with a background in statistical and mathematical modeling. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Research in mathematical applications to biological questions.
Solid background in coding.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team from multiple disciplines.
Demonstrated ability or potential to lead graduate student research.
Track record in publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Matlab.
