Procurement Specialist
PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST Are you a detail-driven procurement professional looking to make a meaningful impact in higher education? Coastal Carolina University is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic Procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the University’s mission by ensuring the efficient and compliant acquisition of goods and services. This is an in-person, on-campus role in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and multiple concurrent tasks.

Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of procurement-related experience. Equivalent education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business; five (5) years of procurement experience with a South Carolina higher education institution, state agency, or school district; CPSM, CPPB, or other procurement certification; experience with Lean or Six Sigma business practices.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Serve as a buyer for purchases from statewide contracts and assist with procurement of non-state contract requests which may or may not require solicitation. Provide training and guidance to the campus community. Look for trends to optimize spend, vendors, processes, etc. Performs special projects as assigned. Provide backup on an as-needed basis to the rest of the Procurement team.
Procurement Specialist II (AC20/61122410/FTE-S01051P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $50,000.00 (minimum) – $55,000.00 (maximum). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Occasional travel for training and professional development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have knowledge of the best practices and procedures for procuring goods and services, along with contracts and management thereof. Must be able to analyze detailed information. Must have excellent organization, communication, customer service, and computer skills, ideally with the ability to create detailed Excel analyses from varying types of data sets. Must be able to handle multiple concurrent job tasks and manage interruptions efficiently. Understanding of process improvement a plus.
