"Procurement Specialist II"

Coastal Carolina University is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic Procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the University’s mission by ensuring the effective, efficient, and compliant acquisition of goods and services.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a key role in managing purchases in accordance with the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code and University policies. You’ll work closely with departments across campus to support sourcing and purchasing, provide training and guidance, and identify opportunities for process and cost optimization.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as a buyer for purchases from statewide contracts and assist with procurement of non-state contract requests which may or may not require solicitation.
• Provide training and guidance to the campus community.
• Look for trends to optimize spend, vendors, processes, etc.
• Provide backup on an as-needed basis to the rest of the Procurement team.
• Special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of procurement-related experience. Equivalent education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business; five years of procurement experience with a South Carolina higher education institution, state agency, or school district; CPSM, CPPB, or other procurement certification; experience with Lean or Six Sigma business practices. Hands-on experience with RFQs, RFPs, and negotiating vendor contracts.
