"Procurement Supervisor 1"

The Procurement Supervisor plays a vital leadership role within the BMPN Administrative Unit, overseeing all procurement, travel, and inventory functions that support four research-intensive academic departments and affiliated research centers. This position is responsible for supervising a team of procurement and travel professionals, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of customer service to faculty, staff, and research personnel. The Procurement Supervisor serves as the primary subject matter expert for complex purchasing activities, including high-value equipment orders, custom lab supplies, and contract agreements. In addition to overseeing daily operations, the role provides training, performance feedback, and procedural guidance to staff, supports fiscal year-end reconciliation, and maintains inventory records for over 800 tagged assets. This position is critical to the continuity and efficiency of financial and operational support.

The full salary range for the Procurement Supervisor is $73,600 - $133,200 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $73,600 - $88,500 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Requirements

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required.
• Experience Requirements: 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required. Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred.
• Certification Requirements: Professional certification. Preferred.
• Minimum Requirements: Full knowledge of the purchasing function. Supervisory skills required to lead purchasing group in department ensuring adherence to purchasing practices and guidelines. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills required in interacting with both internal and external resources. Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the cost effectiveness of purchasing options. Knowledge of procurement policies, the organization's departments and operations, and Federal Acquisition Regulations. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, work on multiple projects, and complete assignments on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Directly supervises small staff of purchasing assistants, lower level buyers, or other administrative staff, and provides significant input to staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, review and approval of work, and hiring and training employees. (10%)
• Ensures compliance with organizational procurement policy and organization or systemwide agreements. (10%)
• Drafts and executes purchase orders and request for quotations (RFQs).
