This position is based on Stanford’s main campus with consideration given to the option for a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite), subject to operational need. This is a one-year fixed term position with the possibility of renewal dependent on programmatic need and budgetary availability. The Natural Capital Project (NatCap) operates as a partnership between Stanford University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Minnesota, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Wildlife Fund. NatCap’s mission is to pioneer science, technology, and partnerships that enable people and nature to thrive. We do this to help make the world a more livable place; to secure human well-being with thriving ecosystems; to harmonize conservation and human development goals, by developing scientific tools and technology to model and map the distribution of biodiversity and to demonstrate the services provided by ecosystems. The Program Support Associate will provide essential administrative and logistical support for convenings and capacity development programs. Working with limited supervision, this role is critical to the success of high-impact initiatives such as the Natural Capital Symposium, custom training programs held both internationally and domestically, and other strategic efforts that advance our research and outreach goals. By managing the delivery of new course agreements and ensuring the smooth execution of a broad spectrum of events, this position will directly support NatCap’s mission to equip practitioners with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to integrate natural capital approaches into decision-making.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate planning and logistics for major convenings (e.g., the biennial Natural Capital Symposium) and custom training programs, including scheduling, communications, vendor selection, contracting support, and budget monitoring.
  • Serve as on-site event manager for on campus convenings.
  • Maintain the Capacity Development program database; generate reports to support program evaluation, content, and decision-making.
  • Guide the execution of new training agreements, including ensuring timely delivery on new courses.
  • Draft and edit documents, presentations, reports, and correspondence; maintain and update program content for websites and reports.
  • Track and report on program metrics; support past participant engagement and program evaluation efforts.
  • Plan and maintain complex calendars; arrange travel in compliance with Stanford and sponsor policies.
  • Process a variety of financial transactions; produce, monitor, and reconcile budget statements; research and resolve discrepancies.
  • May lead or supervise temporary/student workers, including assigning and reviewing tasks.

To be successful in this position, you will need:

Education & Experience: High school diploma and four years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and assign work to others.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

The expected pay range for this position is $39.20 to $45.56 per hour.
